Real Carbon Fiber vs. Hydro-Dip: Know the Difference
The biggest mistake buyers make is confusing hydro-dipped or “carbon pattern” parts with genuine carbon fiber. Hydro-dip is a printed film applied over plastic. It looks convincing in photos but has no depth, no structure, and it flakes and fades over time.
Real carbon fiber is woven fabric laminated with resin and cured – at Yeedercar, using autoclave and prepreg processes – then finished with a UV-stable clear coat. You can see the depth of the weave, and it stays glossy for years. Forged carbon, with its marbled random pattern, is a different process but equally real.
Quick test: real carbon has visible depth you can see when you tilt the part in light. Hydro-dip looks flat and printed. If the price is too good to be true, it is probably not carbon.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will my airbag and steering wheel controls still work? Yes – your factory airbag, horn and all multifunction buttons remain fully functional because the wheel is rebuilt on your original core. Note that heating functions are not retained after a carbon upgrade.
