BMW owners almost always use the word “grille” for one part. In reality three different pieces are sold under that name, and the one your car needs is decided by the bumper, not the badge on the trunk. Get it wrong and the new part won’t clip in — or worse, you cut a perfectly good bumper.
On a BMW, the chassis code decides the grille. The model year and the name on the boot lid do not.
Why a model name is not enough
The same “M5” badge sat on two different front ends. An LCI facelift quietly changed the kidney shape, the surround, and the clip pattern. Ordering by name alone is how most returns start. The chassis code — F90, G30, G80 — is the only reliable key.
Three parts are sold as grille
They look alike in a thumbnail and do completely different jobs. Know which one you're buying before the clips come off.

Common questions
How do I know which grille fits?
Send the VIN and two photos of your front end — straight on and from the side. The chassis code decides, not the model name.
ABS or carbon?
On a grille, carbon won't survive stone chips any better than ABS. Buy carbon because the rest of your front is already carbon and you want it to match.
How long to install?
30–45 minutes with hand tools. The bumper stays on, nothing is cut or drilled.
What does the warranty cover?
Twelve months against manufacturing defects — de-lamination and a lifting clear coat. Not impact or machine-polish damage.
