Choose by car first — the 308/3008, the 408/508 and the RCZ/308 CC do not take the same core, and there is no crossover between them. After that, the only option that changes what the car is like to drive is the LED shift light strip, which adds $160 to $200. The carbon type is the last thing to decide, not the first.
We build seven carbon fiber wheels for the Peugeot range. They look similar in photos and the listings are easy to confuse, so this page lays them out by car and by price, and says plainly what you are paying the extra money for.
| Car | Wheel | Carbon | LED | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 308 / 3008 | 308 / 3008 | Carbon, leather side grips | No | $325 |
| 408 / 508 | 408 / 508 | Carbon, leather side grips | No | $325 |
| 508 | 508 with shift lights | Carbon, leather side grips | Yes | $525 |
| RCZ | RCZ | Carbon, made to order | No | $325 |
| RCZ | RCZ with shift lights | Carbon | Yes | $485 |
| RCZ / 308 CC | RCZ / 308 CC | Hand-laid carbon | No | $345 |
| RCZ / 308 CC | RCZ / 308 CC | Forged carbon | No | $415 |
All seven are built the same way underneath: your original core is re-used, so the airbag, the buttons, the horn and — where the car has them — the paddle shifters all carry over. Fitment is a bolt-on job quoted at 45 to 75 minutes, and we suggest having a shop do it the first time because of the airbag. Everything is made to order in Foshan and dispatched in 10 to 15 business days, with a 12-month warranty.
Choose the car before you choose anything else
A steering wheel core is not interchangeable between Peugeot generations. The splines, the clock spring, the airbag connector and the position of the button loom all differ. That is why the listings are split the way they are, and it is the one mistake that cannot be fixed after the wheel has been built.
Two things are worth knowing. The 308 CC and the RCZ take the same core, which is why two of our wheels are listed for both. And the 408 and the 508 share a listing here, but the 508 also has its own LED version — if you have a 508 and you want shift lights, that is the one to look at rather than the 408/508 wheel.
If your car is a 308 hatchback rather than a 308 CC, send us photos anyway. The two are listed separately for a reason and we would rather confirm it by looking at your wheel than by guessing from the model name.
Why the RCZ has three wheels at three prices
This is the part of the range that generates the most email. Three wheels are listed for the RCZ at $325, $345 and $415, and the difference is not fitment — all three bolt to the same car. What changes is how the carbon is made.
| Hand-laid twill | Forged carbon | |
|---|---|---|
| How it is made | Continuous woven cloth laid by hand, then bagged and cured | Short strands compressed in a mould |
| What you see | The classic 2×2 weave, lines running in one direction | A marbled, irregular pattern with no direction |
| Consistency | Every wheel looks the same | Every wheel looks slightly different |
| Repairability | Scratches show against the weave | Hides small marks far better |
| Price in this range | $325 – $345 | $415 |

Our honest reading: if you like the classic carbon look, the hand-laid wheel at $345 is the better buy and the $70 difference buys you nothing functional. The forged wheel is for people who specifically want that marbled finish — it is the newer look, and it is more forgiving of daily wear.
Is the LED strip worth the extra money?
The LED wheels are the 508 at $525 and the RCZ at $485. Compared with the plain versions, that is roughly $200 and $160 more. The strip sits across the top of the rim and reads the engine speed signal your car already produces — nothing is cut into the loom.
The LED wheel is worth it if
- You drive the car hard and want the shift cue in your eyeline
- You want the interior to look like it belongs to a build
- The $160–$200 is not the deciding number in your budget
The plain wheel is the better buy if
- The car is a daily and you want zero extra wiring
- You may sell it and want the simplest possible story
- You would rather put the difference into a second part
What we would not do
We would not order before sending a photo of the original wheel, front and back. Every order that has gone wrong for us went wrong on the core, not on the finish, and a photo settles it in about a minute.
We would also not buy an LED wheel from a listing that does not say where the controller takes its signal from. If it is wired into the loom rather than reading the signal the car already produces, you are creating a fault that will show up later.
Bottom line
Match the wheel to the car, then decide on the lights, then worry about the carbon. For most people the $325 leather-grip wheel is the right answer, and the forged wheel at $415 is a finish choice rather than an upgrade. You can see the full Peugeot steering wheel range here, or send us photos of your wheel and we will tell you which core you need before you order anything.
