Fitting is a driveway job and it stays reversible if you keep the originals, so the car can be returned to standard later. Clean the original cover with an alcohol wipe so the tape has a clean surface to key to. Work above about 15 °C for the best bond.
The default clear coat is matte; other weaves (3K twill, 6K twill, plain weave, carbon-kevlar hybrid) can be substituted.
Weight is negligible on this part of the Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI; the reason to choose a laid-up shell is stiffness and finish, not grams saved.
The cartons are double-walled for export, so the clear coat arrives intact. Transit damage is replaced as soon as we see a photo.
These need very little looking after, and a rinse after winter salt pays for itself. Avoid abrasive polishes — the clear coat handles UV and road salt, it is not a scratch-proof layer.
The mould is taken from the OE cover, so nothing has to be filed or trimmed. No cutting and no drilling is involved.

How is the finish chosen?
These are supplied matte. Gloss, matte, satin and forged patterns, tinted clear coats and logo work under the clear coat can all be substituted when you order.
What happens if something arrives damaged?
12 Months against manufacturing defects, covering lifting clear coat, de-lamination and weave faults. Transit damage is replaced as soon as we see a photo.
Do they interfere with the mirror function?
No. Only the outer housing is replaced or covered, so the glass, adjustment motor and any heated function keep working exactly as before on the Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI.
